2017-2018 First Grade Curriculum

My oldest is 6.5 and last year for kindergarten, although we had a great year, it was a little too all over the place for me and the way I think. I didn't really have a direction.  I was new to the whole homeschooling thing so instead of dishing out TONS of money, which was incredibly tempting... I grabbed from sources here and there.
I believe everything we do good and not so good is a learning experience. So taking notes at what my she enjoyed most last year I decided to search out different methods of homeschooling. The method I kept coming back to was Charlotte Mason and the literature based approach. So this year we are going more of this route. We are by no means Charlotte Mason purists, since we are "testing the waters"with this method. So far so good!

So here we go here's what's lined up for my 1st Grader:

Bible: Heart of Dakota- Little Hearts for His Glory. I have seen great fruit from utilizing this curriculum. We do not use this curriculum in its entirety but rather focus only on the bible and history portion which is great

Math: Math Lessons for a Living Education Level 2. I cannot say enough good about this curriculum! Maybe I'll do I separate post on this curriculum

Language Arts: The Good and The Beautiful Level K

Additional Phonics: Alpha phonics

Additional Reading: We have tons of readers that she will go through

Handwriting: Draw Write Now and a copy work journal

Geography: (once a week) A Charlotte Mason Geography and Beginning Geography

Nature Study: Nature Anatomy by Julia Rothman and Nature Journaling

Five in a Row Literature Units

Literature / Living Books: I have a list of all our readings in this post.
